Al-Khaldi: Al-Tuwaijri’s nomination enhances the Kingdom’s position globally and reflects its efforts to advance the World Trade Organization
The Chairman of the Asharqia Chamber, Abdul-Hakim bin Hamad Al-Ammar Al-Khaldi, said that the nomination of the Kingdom to the advisor at the Royal Court, Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, for the position of Director of the World Trade Organization, only strengthens the Kingdom’s position globally, supports its growing roles in the global economy, and reflects the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts and endeavors to advance In the World Trade Organization, in which the Kingdom led many pivotal committees, as well as its awareness of its vital role in the global economic system, especially in light of its current presidency of the Twentieth Summit.
Al-Khalidi stressed the vital role that the World Trade Organization plays towards creating a better global trading system, which can enhance open opportunities between countries of the world, push economic growth forward, and achieve sustainable development goals, noting that the Kingdom always emphasizes the importance of the organization And its active role in the global economy.
On Wednesday, July 15, 2020, the start of the process of selecting the new Director-General of the World Trade Organization from among the eight candidates from several countries was launched, succeeding the current director.
Al-Khalidi pointed out that this nomination is in line with the goals of the vision and its aspirations for the involvement of our national cadres in various international forums. Efficiently and competently, which will surely represent a significant addition to the organization, and works to address the challenges it already faces, and other emergencies brought about by the Krone pandemic that resulted in negative impacts on global trade, pointing out that the Kingdom’s global economic and political weight will be strengthened from Al-Tuwaijri’s position in winning the position.
